Here I am feeling stupid again. its not easy being a noob.
Why would 3 number domain names be popular to register?
Out of curiosity I punched in a bunch of taken 3 number .ca domains and most didn't resolve and the rest that i tried were just parked.

anybody care to educate this noob?

Why would 3 number domain names be popular to register?

They are popular because they are very rare, there are only 1,000 of them in total.

If other .CA NNN owners are not making full use of them, well, this may be a good opportunity for you/us to offer them a low price and keep it as our investment. They will significantly increase in value, no doubt about that. And they are good for SEO, too.

There are not many other major extensions that still have NNN domains available to register and this is only happenning because .CA domains are restricted to registrants with a Canadian presence.

Otherwise they would be gone long ago.

This a good topic for discussion in other areas of this forum.

Thanx for that explanation yesbrilliant.
I can see the value effect of rarity. that makes sense. but i don't understand the seo part. Who searches for numbers except maybe a part number or version number?

Almost nobody searches fo numbers, you are right,  but in diretories listed alphabetically, resutls with Tithes and URLs starting with numbers are always in the first places.

Yahoo is the best example. Lots of traffic from there if you can achieve that.
